About This Course

The objective of this study is to examine the social construction of race through the invention of white people. The book surveys colonial North American law and history to interrogate the origins of racial inequality and injustice in American society. It details how the concept of “whiteness” was created to protect the ruling elite and how this invention continues to influence racial dynamics today. The book also aims to develop a framework for countering racial inequality and promoting anti-racist policies and practices.
